Psychiatric Disability Support Services provide support to consumers and carers through programs such as home-based outreach, psychosocial rehabilitation day programs, mutual support and self-help, respite and advocacy.

The special interest of the PCC is to explore treatment modalities that reach beyond the realm of classical neuroses. Research into primitive mental states, including narcissistic, borderline, autistic and psychotic states, is an important addition to our understanding of the mind and to the development of more complete treatment of serious mental disorders.

The orientation includes an appreciation of the works of Melainie Klein, Wilfred Bion, Ronald Fairbairn, Donald Winnicott and those more contemporary analysts who have expanded their ideas. Never the less, all points of view are represented, welcomed and encouraged.

The official publication of PSI is Irish Journal of Psychology.
